PG&E Incident in San Bruno, CA
On September 9, 2010, a 30-inch diameter natural gas transmission pipeline owned and operated by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) ruptured in a residential area in San Bruno, California. The National Transportation Safety Board ) is investigating to determine the cause of the rupture. PHMSA’s State partner, the Califormia Public Utility Commission, is investigating for compliance with pipeline safety regulations. Read more.
UGI Utilities Pipeline Leak in Allentown, PA
On Thursday, February 10, 2011, a UGI Utilities natural gas distribution pipeline leak in Allentown, PA resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is investigating the incident for cause and conducting a pipeline safety regulatory compliance review of UGI Utilities. Read more.
Enbridge Spill near Marshall, MI
On July 26, 2010, the Enbridge control center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada discovered a crude oil leak from Line 6B. This 30 inch diameter pipeline transports crude oil and liquid petroleum products from Griffith, Indiana to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. PHMSA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating. Read more.
